Welcoming Our Newest Advisors
The Tuolumne River Trust Board welcomes Zarine and Olivia! Our newest advisors join us with combined expertise in climate action; environmental, social, and governance strategy; climate tech; and a longstanding love of the Tuolumne River watershed. These intersecting interests will enhance the organization's commitment to environmental stewardship and community development throughout the watershed. Their distinct perspectives will be invaluable in guiding the Trust’s mission to protect the Tuolumne River Watershed and engage future environmental stewards.
Zarine Kakalia:
Zarine first connected with TRT as an intern in 2017, working with Peter Drekmeier on advocacy analytics for SFPUC campaigns. Her education and career bridges climate action and business through corporate sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy. Zarine holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Environmental Science as well as Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley and the Haas School of Business. She looks forward to engaging with the river and its supporters to preserve this ecosystem for future generations!
Olivia Heitz:
Born to two river guides, Olivia has explored many watersheds in the Western U.S. For years, she was a guide on the Tuolumne River, a tradition she continues on the weekends when possible. Currently, she works to develop climate monitoring software in San Francisco and is pursuing a career leveraging people, technology, finance, and data analysis to increase the amount of dollars flowing to climate solutions. Olivia is excited to bridge the gap between the tech and environmental worlds, while getting young professionals to protect the places she loves to play in.
