Meadow Restoration Prep Day: Boney Flat Meadow

  • Boney Flat Meadow near Sonora, CA United States (map)

Join us this June as we prepare for meadow restoration in the Sierra!

Accompany us at Boney Flat Meadow as we stage materials for building stream restoration structures later this summer.

Volunteers who attend this day of work will be rewarded by lush green grasses, late spring wildflowers, and gentle streams flowing through this meadow in repair. We’ll work together to prepare debris piles and woody materials that will be used for meadow and stream restoration.

Meadows are are essential to water quality and storage in the Sierra Nevada, and they need slow moving streams and creeks running through them which allow water to spread out and percolate into the land. These wet meadows then create habitat for myriad species, fire resiliency, carbon storage, and healthy functioning watersheds.

If you're looking to get outside, connect with rich meadow habitat, and do meaningful work to improve recreation access along the Tuolumne River, these days are for you! Whether you've done restoration work in your life or are brand new to it, we would love to have you join us at these events! We will provide all the tools and instruction you'll need to be safe and successful.
