Central Valley residents, join us for adventure and stewardship along the Tuolumne River this fall!

This fall, our Explore the Tuolumne program shares hands-on environmental learning with Central Valley communities! We’ll conduct water quality tests, learn about salmon habitat, clean up the river, and support forest restoration. Each event will be co-presented in English and Spanish.

Explore the Tuolumne: Fall Stewardship Series

October 11 / 3:00 pm-5:30 pm
Water Quality Testing + Salmon Habitat Learning
200 Tioga Drive, Modesto, CA
(in the Tuolumne River Regional Park)
All ages welcome

We will take samples from the Tuolumne River to test water quality, while learning about the salmon that call this water home.


October 12 / 9:00 am-12:00 pm
Lower Tuolumne River Clean Up
734 Neece Drive, Modesto, CA
(in the Tuolumne River Regional Park)
Ages 10+ welcome

In collaboration with Operation 9-2-99, we will clean up the banks of the Lower Tuolumne River in Modesto making it a safer environment for the community and the wildlife it sustains.

Tuolumne River Hike
425 S. Reinway Ave, Waterford, CA

All ages welcome

This guided educational Tuolumne River hike will feature a closer look at the river’s history and ecology. We’ll take a closer look at the beautiful plants and greenery surrounding the river and do a colors of nature painting activity together. This hike is open to all ages, but is not handicap or stroller accessible.

Forest Restoration
Boney Flat Meadow, near Long Barn, CA
(in the Sierra foothills)
Ages 13+ welcome

We will create and maintain healthy, resilient forests by planting trees at Boney Flat Meadow in the Sierra Nevada, the birthplace of the Tuolumne River.

but that’s not required. Sign up for one or more programs below.
