Meadow & Stream Restoration Volunteer Day: Boney Flat Meadow

  • Boney Flat Meadow Long Barn, CA, 95335 United States (map)
A group of volunteers and TRT staff wearing bright green vests pose together at Boney Flat Meadow. The meadow is golden and dry and backed by rows of conifer trees. The sun is bright.

Join us this September for meadow & stream restoration at Boney Flat Meadow!

Join us for a dynamic volunteer day at Boney Flat Meadow as we build in-stream restoration structures (post-assisted log structures), weed invasive species, and collect native seed. Volunteers who attend will work together on meadow and stream restoration that helps slow the flow of water throughout the meadow.

Bring lunch, lots of water, and durable shoes that can get wet. Be prepared to work hard, get muddy and have a great time! Signups will close on Friday, August 30.

Meadows are essential to water quality and storage in the Sierra Nevada, and they need slow moving streams and creeks running through them which allow water to spread out and percolate into the land. These wet meadows then create habitat for myriad species, fire resiliency, carbon storage, and healthy functioning watersheds.

If you're looking to get outside, connect with rich meadow habitat, and do meaningful work to improve recreation access along the Tuolumne River, this work day is for you!

Whether you've done restoration work in your life or are brand new to it, we would love to have you join us at these events. We will provide all the tools and instruction you'll need to be safe and successful.

*Please note that space will be limited & that exact location details will be sent out once you register using the form below. Signups will close on Friday, August 30.

Thanks to California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Nature Based Solution: Wetlands and Mountain Meadows program for funding this work!
